Job Description

The Technical Sales Manager plays a key role in achieving Carlisle Interconnect Technologies'(CIT) aggressive growth strategy by providing expert technical support for CIT Defense & Space products to our customers. The Technical Sales Manager develops technical sales proposals for the Defense & Space market, develops and achieves bookings forecast for designated areas and accounts, and acts as a customer liaison to ensure overall customer satisfaction rating is ranked high and remians in an outstanding status. This role supports the Sales functions by generating Program Leads for New Business Development. In this role, the Technical Sales Manager is to identify and actively pursue new business to support increasted growth in the Defense & Space market for year over year growth.


• Travel with the Business Development Managers as required in support of bookings goal and customer satisfaction.
• Support the established sales strategy to meet or exceed the annual goals for forecast and growth for the designated territory and accounts through the utilization of the Miller Heiman processes, such as Strategic and Conceptual Selling.
• Deliver sales presentations to key accounts and prospects in cooperation with the Business Development Manager and Product Managers/Directors.
• Provide the Sales team members with current information on a monthly basis to support the monthly forecast review process.
• Provide feedback on an ongoing basis for market trends, competitive analysis, and customer feedback in regards to our products and the performance.
• Provide technical support and guidance on large quotations and proposals for Key Accounts within the established time frame, and overall guidelines.
• Offer recommendations for New Products as well as proposals for modification of existing designs in order to support customer needs, market needs, and win new business.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the technical product specifications of the product portfolio to leverage product specifications to our customers.
• Gather information from our customers and throughout the industry through journals, tradeshows, and conferences regarding new products, market trends, and market potential for future growth.
• Participate in program mapping activities to uncover related business opportunities with existing or new programs.

Acts in a leadership capacity to enforce the customer strategy, by mentoring, monitoring work and schedules by directing day to day activities. While this position does not have any direct reports, it is one of leadership across multiple departments that work collaboratively to ensure ultimate customer success.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Master's Degree preferred) or equivalent experience.
• 5-10 years of field sales engineering experience with a customized and technical product.
• Demonstrated success in the sales of detail oriented, technical, high quality products in an extended selling cycle (6 to 24 months) is essential.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings and technical specifications is required.
• Past experience in Strategic Selling and/or Conceptual Selling from Miller Heiman as well as prior experience in the sales/designs of interconnect products are preferred.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Fluency in additional languages will be considered favorably.

Work is performed in a normal office environment with minimal physical risks involved. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.

Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job when in the manufacturing areas. Safety toed shoes or boots (ASTM 2413-11 standard) are required in specific manufacturing areas.

Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (20 to 25% of the time).
