The System Design Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of Liquid and Powder finishing systems. Provides overall leadership to the assigned project teams. Defines appropriate resources across various complex projects to ensure completion of project goals within profitability targets. Responsible for managing and overseeing the system installation timeline to include both internal resource execution and external supplier commitments.

Essential Functions

• Leads the development and implementation of a broad, coordinated set of project plans to meet the goals and priorities of the department. Responsible for ensuring each project is completed on time, within budget and according to specifications.
• Develop powder and liquid coating application solutions and booth system design concepts aligned with customer needs.
• Actively participates in various phases of the project management process including, but not limited to, preparing engineering drawings and related parts loads; staging equipment to ensure proper operation prior to shipment to the customer facility; and initiating customer invoicing on a timely basis throughout the project.
• Cultivates relationships with outside suppliers (i.e., PLC supplier, installer, etc.) and manages engineering requirements, specifications and design schematics.
• Reviews customer specifications and purchase orders to ensure compliance with sales proposals. Communicates with customers and system integrators to clarify details of orders and to coordinate various aspects of the projects.
• Works cross-functionally to solve problems, implement changes and provide highly skilled technical and management advice and assistance to achieve defined project goals, tasks, and resource requirements.
• Assists in customer focused equipment testing, lab demonstrations, and training.
• Provide support in the sales quoting process to ensure solution accuracy.

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor's degree -- preferably in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering combined with 2D and 3D CAD capabilities (AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of successfully managing various projects or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough understanding of project management phases, techniques and tools.

Preferred Qualification

• In depth knowledge of CFT systems products, fundamentals of electrostatics and paint application processes, along with a solid understanding of industrial control systems.
• Critical Thinking & Problem Solving -- ability to recognize problems, evaluate alternatives and identify solutions using a systematic approach.
• Collaboration -- demonstrates superior collaboration skills. Actively participates in cross-functional groups to solve problems across projects. Provides resources and organizational structure to promote collaborative initiatives. Fosters and manages productive relationships with executive level sponsors.
• Demonstrates superior inter-personal skills, conflict resolution and negotiating skills. Ensures open communication across project teams. Handles broad-based, often complex, communication for internal and/or external audiences.
• Influencing and Leading -- provides leadership, vision and direction for both project team and business partners. Viewed as an expert and a highly sought after resource and key advisor to business leaders.
• Outstanding record of project management success, both in results achieve and in use of professional methodology. Able to design solutions for varied internal/external clients.
• General knowledge of finance related costing methods and controls.
• Computer proficient - Microsoft Office.
• Strong technical writing skills


Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out of the area and overnight travel.
