Job Description

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer plans, performs, and coordinates activities associated with manufacturing processes. The primary responsibility is for blanking and metal processing operations. This person - Acts as the expert; Determines process parameters and establishes the process controls; Documents standard work for operation and maintenance of the processes and equipment; Aids in training Production and Maintenance; Audits day-to-day operations and records to ensure compliance to the internal and external standards; Responsible for improvement in terms of safety, quality, cost savings, energy consumption, productivity, robustness, and lead time. Essential Functions: Develops, evaluates, and improves blanking processes and secondary operations. Understanding of stamping tooling knowledge. Develops capital justifications for new and existing equipment for safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Partners with equipment suppliers; specifies and manages installation of new equipment and upgrades. Creates and sustains standard work to include: processing, change-over, material movement, identification, packaging, etc. Performs cost analysis, develops and implements improvement. Provides rapid response for Production and Maintenance. Actively gets involved in problem solving. Acts as a training resource for Production and Maintenance. Responsible for, but not limited to: stamping/blanking operations, flattening or leveling feedlines, coil handling equipment and secondary steel processes. Performs various ME responsibilities throughout facility as assigned.

Experience / Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university is required.

Minimum 10 years of experience as a Process Engineer.

Strong project management skills. PMP certification is a plus.

Solid understanding of costing and cost structures.

Must have knowledge and have achieved results utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.

Ability to determine root cause using data analysis and other techniques. Six sigma black belt a plus.

Experience using mistake proofing and in a TS 16969 or similarly certified operation.
