Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CIT) - Pottstown is seeking candidates to join our team as a full-time RF Engineer. The successful employee in this position will design and validate new and existing products (connectors, cable, EMI Shielding, circuit board launch structure, etc.) for electrical and mechanical performance and validation of routers, in process inspection, tooling, connector assembly work instruction and ease of assembly for the effective release of a trouble-free design to the production floor. Mentor junior engineers when needed. They will plan, design and provide high quality interconnects, PCBs, and cable assemblies that surpass the standard requirements of strict industry standards such as 802.3 Ethernet, MIL-DTL-17, MIL-STD-348, MIL-PRF-39012 and others.


* Design of PC board to allow high frequency transition (up to 70 GHz) from board to coaxial cable assembly.
* Coordinate projects; Communicate changes and progress; Complete projects on time and on budget
* Work with other design engineers to evaluate product improvement ideas, cost and alternate manufacturing techniques, automation, and material selection
* Work closely with the machining engineers to ensure designs can be produced.
* Work closely with manufacturing engineering to ensure connectors\cable\pc boards can be produced in production.
* Review tooling & tooling instructions as part of connector design
* Design and develop simulation methods.
* Modify and maintain engineering design tools to support product design, including PC board layout and cable design tools.
* Work closely with cable engineers to ensure that programs are being managed and coordinated with design efforts for a successful product launch of new products.
* Assist test technicians in troubleshooting and/or qualifying connector designs
* Work closely with production supervisor to ensure designs can be made in production using production tooling and processes.
* Support production in trouble shooting connector and cable issues.
* Performs tolerance stack-ups/analysis as required to validate designs and/or solve manufacturing problems.
* Review detail drawings and models in accordance with Carlisle standards. (both documented and informal)
* May support design activities for other RF/Microwave products as needed.

* Must have a BS degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or higher.
* Design new products by optimizing their electrical and mechanical performance.
* Be self-motivated and be able to lead and work well with others.
* Be able to build solid models in SolidWorks.
* Computer Skills -- Previous experience with Databases, ERP system such as Baan LN, SAP, and mechanical drafting and simulation software. Advanced use of Microsoft Office Products.


* Engineer I:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with the ability to design new connectors or cables under the supervision of the R & D Engineering Manager or a Senior Engineer. Must have 1-3 years of experience.

* Engineer II:
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university with 4 to 6 years of training with the ability to design new cable\SI interconnects without the direction of the R&D Manager or a Senior Engineer.

Engineer III:
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university required with a Master's degree preferred or over 10 years of related product experience and 6 years of direct product related experience in Signal Integrity applications and/or cable design.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.


Must be able to comprehend and apply basic mathematical principles.


* Engineer I:
* Understands drafting principles - can proof CAD drawings.
* Proficient skill with AutoCAD; SolidWorks; or other 3D drafting software
* Must possess the ability to learn basic RF principles
* Must possess the ability to learn basic mechanical stack-up tolerance evaluation
* Must possess the ability to learn twisting, braiding, tape wrapping and other related mechanical processes.
* Must possess good abstract reasoning
* Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office, be organized, and work well with others
* Must have some signal integrity experience with PCB boards.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is preferred.

* Engineer II:
* Must have all of the job skills of an "Engineer 1"and possess the following:
* Must have demonstrated proficiency of S-parameters, Return loss, Insertion loss, Mismatch loss, Impedance, Electrical length etc.
* Must understand how to use test data from a VNA to troubleshoot connectors and cable
* Can mechanically simulate connectors and cable for stress analysis
* Has a basic understanding of advanced concepts such as ionization, multipaction, IL stability, cable spikes, etc. as their position necessitates
* Working knowledge of ISO 9000;ANSI ;& Military standards
* Must be fully versed in signal integrity concepts and applications. Must be able to simulate and optimize designs for very tight electrical and mechanical performance.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is preferred.

* Engineer III:
* Must have all of the job skills of an "Engineer 2"and possess the following:
* Must possess the ability to model and simulate connector and cable designs using the appropriate design software
* Generate simulation and analysis reports as needed for internal and customer applications.
* Be able to simulate products in CST for VSWR, IL, Thermal (power), and multipaction capabilities or be proficient in using other product calculators specific to the product design. (ex. Rainbow calculator.)
* Have a thorough understanding of High Frequency Engineering, thermodynamics, and some understanding of material science.
* Have a deep understanding of testing equipment theory including Vector Network Analysis, VNA architecture and calibration/de-embedding, signal integrity for microwave channels, PCB design, S-/ABCD-/T-/General Network parameters and ideal/non-ideal transmission lines and transitions.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
* Must possess a strong understanding of advanced subjects in cable design such as, tape and helical wrapping, braiding, phase matching, IL stability, VSWR performance, red plague and others principles such as ionization and multipaction to the extent where they can teach them to less experienced employees in the department.
