Job Description

SUMMARY

Evaluates tests and inspects in-process and finished goods by performing the following duties.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Plan and perform a wide variety of duties to prescribe, set up and evaluate testing and inspection of in-process and finished goods.
* Calibrates inspection equipment and conducts periodic audits of calibration records and equipment.
* Operates most electrical and mechanical inspection equipment including Instron Tensile Testers, various bridges, comparators, TDR and various environmental chambers.
* Interprets output data to determine pass or fail results, fills out test reports and records, and organizes test results for finalizing.
* Performs tests and inspections in accordance with MIL, customer, MSO and ASTM standards as specified.
* Performs tests and inspections in presence of government inspectors.
* Performs customer qualification inspections and interfaces with customer/ISO and AS representatives during scheduled audits.
* Computes results of specific tests, using mathematical formulas.
* Performs other duties as assigned and maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition.
* Reports any problems or difficulties to the supervisor and obeys safety rules.
* Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
* Frequently required to stand and walk.
* Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
* Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
* Specific vision abilities required, i.e. close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.



LANGUAGE SKILLS

* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintaining instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.





JOB SKILLS/TYPE OF PERSON

* Ability to apply job specific understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.



SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.



WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

This is an air conditioned facility with many pieces of equipment that produce heat. The following are potential items encountered: fumes, dust, noise, hazardous/toxic chemicals. Appropriate training is provided and documented based on job placement that complies with OSHA and EPA regulations.



PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

ASTM F--2412--2005, ANSI Z41--1999, or ANSI Z41--1991 rated safety toed shoes and clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job.
