I. Job Summary:



Primary duties include; Supervising the qualification lab staff. Identifying and interpreting Specifications, such as MIL-C-39029's relationship to MIL-STC-1344 and MIL-STD-202 and specific customer specifications, develop compliancy tables and determine proper actions to close gaps. Based on compliancy closure write test specifications and data sheets. Develop test methodology to support design validation and qualification. Identify basic specification relationship to slash sheet quality requirements vs. Design requirements and reasoning for groups A, B and C testing.



II. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

*
• Supervise the qualification lab staff.
*
• Develops test specifications, sketches, test plans and other written or verbal information to perform designated tests.
*
• Gathers test equipment required, sets into test positions, and develops test methodology utilizing work knowledge of materials tested.
*
• Assists technicians in the proper operation of environmental test equipment and monitors tests results.
*
• Assists in procuring test equipment and specific test material needed to complete all testing, such as wire, connectors and fixturing.
*
• Writes test summaries and completes test reports as required for qualification and re-qualification.
*
• Through understanding of the test requirements and the operation of the proper equipment to perform the following test procedures: Examination of Product, Axial Concentricity test, Low Signal contact Resistance test, Contact Resistance test, Contact Engagement and Separation Force test, Thermal Shock test, Probe Damage test, Durability test, Salt Spray test, Temperature Life test, Industrial Gas test, Contact Resistance High Temperature test, Crimp Tensile Strength test, and Plating Porosity.

• Understanding for calculating lever arm placement in Probe Damage Test, Load vs. distance to meet Pin Contact Strength Torque. Interface with design engineering and the customer to resolve specification issues.

III. Skills and/or Experience Needed:

*
• Through knowledge of ANSI Y 14.5 and military specifications.
*
• Bachelor's degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, physics or equivalent.
*
• Experience in environmental, mechanical and electrical testing.





Language Skills:

*
• Must communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
*
• Must have good English grammar and spelling and the ability to report up to senior management in various reporting elements.
*
• Must be able to read, write, analyze, and interpret general business reports, procedures, and/or regulations.



Reasoning Ability:

*
• Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions.
*
• Must be able to generate departmental documentation and be able to train technicians.
*
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.



IV. Additional Skills, Education and Experience preferred (Not Required):

*
• Understanding of MS Office projects, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• This position requires use of a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data.

• This position may be subject to interruptions which may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus.

• While performing duties of this position, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend.

• May occasionally lift and/or move up files or boxes up to 20 pounds.
*
• May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours.

• May be subjected to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials, chemicals, etc.
