PROCESS R&D ENGINEER

Job Summary:

Carlisle Construction Materials Incorporated, a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology, has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer, within the Research & Development team in Carlisle, PA. The Process R&D Engineer has the responsibility for implementing all research and development activities related to processing support of the membrane manufacturing and associated processes. This person will be the R&D link to plant processing associated with manufacturing and assembling products and assisting in design and startup of process equipment.  The Process Engineer will use sound process engineering principles and techniques across multiple disciplines including thermoplastics and thermosets.  The Engineer will work with chemists, other engineers, and technically trained personnel, and operates under the general guidance of the Process R&D Director - Membrane Products.

Travel around 25%

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of manufacturing and process specifications for supported products.  Products include thermosets, thermoplastics, and liquid applied membranes.
  • Assist with equipment/line installs and start-ups associated with capital equipment projects.
  • Support the entire R&D group, other Carlisle divisions and Carlisle customers by answering questions, assisting with testing, evaluating equipment or systems, or providing any other applicable assistance as needed.
  • Lead task groups to investigate new methods and equipment for the manufacturing of Carlisle products.
  • Investigate ways to reduce the manufacturing cost of Carlisle products.
  • Conduct periodic analysis of key competitors to maintain an awareness level of their process capabilities.
  • Attend process / equipment trade shows to stay current with the latest technologies.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physical Science, or Engineering is required.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of one to five (1-5) years of experience in the plastics or single ply roofing industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written are required.
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Carlisle, PA area.
