PROCESS R&D ENGINEER

 

Job Summary:

Carlisle Construction Materials Incorporated, a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology, has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer, within the Research & Development team in Carlisle, PA. The Process R&D Engineer has the responsibility for implementing all research and development activities related to processing support of the membrane manufacturing and associated processes.  This person will be the R&D link to manufacturing on a daily basis and will assist in design and start-up of process equipment. This encompasses technical design specifications for equipment, processing specifications, process assistance to the plants and development of ACE justifications.  The Process Engineer will use sound process engineering principles and techniques across multiple disciplines utilized to produce CCM’s thermoplastic membrane, thermoset membrane and molded rubber products.  The Process R&D Engineer will work with chemists, other engineers, and technically trained personnel, and operates under the general guidance of the Process Research & Development Director – Membrane Products.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of manufacturing and process specification for supported products.
  • Lead task groups to investigate new methods and equipment for the manufacturing of Carlisle products.
  • Assist with equipment/line installs and start-ups associated with capital equipment projects.
  • Evaluate equipment or systems and provide any other applicable assistance as needed.
  • Investigate ways to reduce the manufacturing cost of Carlisle products.
  • Conduct periodic analysis of key competitors to maintain an awareness level of their process capabilities.
  • Attend process / equipment trade shows to stay current with the latest technologies.

 Minimum Job Requirements:

  •  A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physical Science, or Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of one to three years of experience in the plastics or single ply roofing industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of engineering principals related to polymeric materials processing preferred.
  • Knowledge of thermoset, thermoplastic, and adhesive systems preferred.
