Job Description



SUMMARY
Repairs and maintains production machinery and mechanical equipment. Repairs and maintains plant utility systems including those supplying air, water, steam and HVAC. Repairs and maintains the exterior and interior of the physical plant. These tasks are accomplished by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


• Perform a wide variety of duties including Mechanical, Electrical, Welding and Fabrication.
• Diagnose and repair equipment failures or breakdowns pertaining to production machinery, equipment and facilities.
• Work from drawings, sketches and written or verbal instructions.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Performs other related work as instructed.
• Maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition.
• Reports any problems, safety issues or difficulties to the supervisor. Obeys company safety rules.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Four year vocational certificate with a minimum five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in industrial maintenance.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Ability to read and interpret precision measurement apparatus.

JOB SKILLS/TYPE OF PERSON
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
