Summary
The Materials Manager is responsible for supporting material flow within CFT's manufacturing operations and accurate inventory reporting through the creation, maintenance and improvement of Kanban and other inventory systems. The Materials Manager will engage in the data maintenance of inventory movement, value, turns and supplier performance. The incumbent will also audit, update and managing Kanbans and raw material part creation and maintenance within CFT's E-9 ERP.

Inventory System Process

• Responsible for championing the Kanban system to support material flow within manufacturing, while minimizing on-hand inventory and reporting inventory accurately
• Responsible for the management of the Kanban database to ensure least-waste operations.
• Perform inventory of Kanbans to insure the proper number in circulation; review consumption patterns to determine proper Kanban levels and make changes as required to minimize inventory levels.
• Review items being purchased for Kanban implementation opportunity.
• Audit compliance with established Kanban levels and procedures.
Inventory Control Processes

• Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring inventory control processes ensuring proper execution of material transaction processes; analyze reorder points and make adjustments to the part setup in the ERP system as needed to right size inventory levels, esp. Mfg. items.
• Generate cycle-count lists and record results; complete cycle count adjustments per standard processes
• Track stock out performance and complete variance analysis and root-cause problem solving to improve performance for both stock outs and inventory accuracy.
• Assist in identification, and utilization of parts that are at risk for obsolescence.
• Developing practical and innovative ways to identify and meet inventory goals including turn, stock outs, cost reduction and cycle counts.
• Lead in the execution of work in progress (WIP) evaluation and valuation; coach others on counting procedures.
• Responsible for facilitating audits and ensuring accuracy of WIP counts; provide variance analysis and root-cause problem solving.
• As requested, assist Finance in determining WIP valuation and negative inventory balances and works with finance and engineering on bill of material issues.

Inventory Recordkeeping Procedures

• Responsible for maintenance of and creation of new raw material parts data in the ERP system following standard documenting procedures.
• Responsible for working with Engineering Team to transition parts into the bill of materials (BOM) and customer order when parts are substituted, engineering change order (ECO) processing, and/or supplier changes.
• Confirm that the new part approval process and testing when applicable is completed.
Other Support Functions

• Responsible for purchasing basic production floor supply items and maintenance/repair/operations (MRO) items; serve as a back-up to Buyers over extended absences
• Responsible for the timely processing of non-conforming material (NCM) debit memos.
• Responsible for any correction action/prevention action or ISO documentation or support related to raw material parts.
• Responsible to confirm that all inventory transactions and inventory exception reports are up-to-date for period end.
• Develops a working relationship with Production and other internal CFT departments to deliver the most efficient customer care and service.
• Forwards any concerns or questions unable to address to the Supply Chain Manager promptly.
• Special projects as assigned.
Physical Demands:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
Required demands include:

• Must be able to sit at desk for an eight-hour shift (with intermittent movement)
• Occasionally will be required to lift objects up to 50 pounds
• Full use of arms and hands to reach overhead, forward, and out to the sides to lift, rotate, carry, etc.
• See, hear and communicate with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
• Must be alert and aware of surrounding for safety concerns
Work Environment:
The work environment for this position is a mix of a production and office setting. Incumbent must also follow allow company safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment while on the production floor.


Requirements:
Education: Bachelors degree in business, purchasing, Supply Chain Mgt. or equivalent experience
Experience: Entry level to 3 years

• Ability to quickly become competent in understanding the CFT supply chain system including partners, materials being procured, movement of materials within production operations
• Working knowledge of inventory practices and Kanban systems
• CPIM a plus but not required
• Self-starter with strong problem solving skills, ability to multi-task, and strong attention to detail; familiar with performing root-cause analysis
• Must have the force of character sufficient to properly represent CFT interests with suppliers and persona of a high character teammate
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment with all levels of employees, including the ability to train others on inventory processes
• Knowledge of personal computers and office machinery. Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word; capable of quickly becoming proficient with CFT ERP systems
• Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language; good verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to continuously learn and be open to feedback to improve individual performance. Must maintain safe maintenance practices and adhere to safety requirements
