Under general supervision, plans and implements repairs, upgrades, and new purchases to the layouts of plant, office, and production equipment in order to provide the maximum utilization of facilities and efficiency of production. Develops specifications and prepares estimates of design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Forms criteria and performance specifications for facilities and equipment necessary to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes. Typically works on tasks that require analysis of identifiable factors and application of judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.





Role Expectations:

Reporting directly to the Maintenance & Facilities Engineering Supervisor the position will be responsible to:


* Responsible for supporting the maintenance and facilities department's engineers and technical staff in the maintenance of all equipment and facility systems with an emphasis on mechanical power transmission, hydraulics, and pneumatics. This includes, but is not limited to, mechanical and hydraulic presses, furnaces, grinders, steel preparation and coating equipment, gear shapers, robotics, CNC machining centers, laser processors, gear shapers, dust and fume collection equipment, transformers, switchgears, busbars, HVAC equipment, and fire suppression systems.


* Assists in the development and executes requirements related to facilities projects, facilities systems that support production, special projects, construction management and utilization of outside Contractors and skilled trades. Upgrades existing equipment for enhanced safety, functionality, and/or reliability.


* Recommend the acquisition of new capital equipment or capital equipment improvement projects based on assessments of the existing equipment and facility in order to meet new business demands, improve processes and safety, and decrease downtime. Prepare and submit capital project proposals. Manage the capital project from approval to completion.
* Manage multiple projects through all phases, including conceptual design, detailed design, writing of equipment and construction specifications, selection of equipment and contractors, and managing the construction phase, and performing equipment runoff to a checklist.
* Performs inspections and surveillance of outside Contractor work when related to maintaining facilities equipment/building systems.
* Must be an excellent communicator, facilitator, and coach. Must have a strong sense of urgency with the ability to meet deadlines and work flexible hours when needed. Must possess strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and/or in a cross-functional work team environment.
* Reviews and recommends ways to minimize energy usage so as to operate facilities in a more cost effective and environmentally friendly manner.



Requirements:


* Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline.
* 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing / facilities engineering preferred.
* Experienced working in a Total Productive Maintenance program.
* Strong technical leadership, organization, teamwork and communication skills.
* Significant experience leading projects. PMP certification a plus.
* Experienced with programming HMI systems and interfacing them to PLC's. Experience with programming Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC systems a plus.
* Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D CAD modeling. Experience with Pro-E a plus.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills
* Lean Six Sigma training and certification (Green Belt) is a plus.
