Job Description


SUMMARY
Develops and tests machinery and equipment under direction of engineering and scientific staff by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• • Devises, fabrications, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, servosystems, machine tools, and measuring instruments.
• • Set up and conducts test of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.
• • Records test procedure and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
• • Perform preventative maintenance on production tolling and equipment.
• • Respond to production maintenance request to trouble shut and correct issues on production equipment.

Physical Demands:

• • This position is primarily a sedentary office position working in a controlled, quiet office environment.
• • This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data.
• • This position may be subject to frequent or occasional interruptions which may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus.
• • While performing duties of this position, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend.
• • May occasionally lift and/or move up files or boxes up to 20 pounds.
• • May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours.
• • May be required to sit for extended lengths of time.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• • Two-year certificate from college or technical school or a minimum four years in equivalent experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

• • Must communicate effectively, both written and verbal, to employees at all levels and with outside vendors and customers.
• • Must have very good English grammar and spelling.
• • Must be able to read, write, analyze, and interpret general business reports, procedures, and/or regulations.
• • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

• • Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions.
• • Must be able to understand departmental documentation and be able to process accurately.
• • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
