Job Description


This position serves as a first-line supervisor, directing and coordinating activities of skilled maintenance mechanics over 3 shifts and 2 manufacturing facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

• Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and the facility.
• Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
• Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
• Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
• Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work
• assignments and work techniques.
• Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
• Maintains time and production records.
• Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
• Performs activities of workers supervised.
• Other duties may be assigned based on business need.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point Word Processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of CMMS systems, knowledge of industrial computers such as robotics, frequency drives, PLC's and HMI. The knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Kaizen events is preferred.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university highly preferred; or
• 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
