SUMMARY

Under general supervision, produces machined parts by programming, setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Advanced interpretation of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specification, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Measures, marks, and scribes dimension and reference points on materials or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.

Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on milling machine.

Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special requirements.

Establish work procedures for machining new structural products, using a variety of metalworking machines.

Set up, adjust, and operate all of the machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation operations.

Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product

Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

Verifies, fits and assembles parts into complete assembly as required.

Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.

Generates programs, set-up sheets, tooling list and sketch of each operation for first time builds or process improvements.

Consistently demonstrates sound knowledge required by Machinist II training.

Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.

Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to like new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.

Adheres to all factory safety procedures and guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 3-5 plus years' experience in general machining and CNC machine operation is preferred.
* Satisfy Machinist I requirements.
* Satisfy all Machinist II requirements after the required time period
* Satisfy Personnel Proficiency Requirements after the required time period
* Must be familiar with Hurco, G-codes, M-codes, lathes and mills.
* Master CAM or related Cad/Cam programming experience is preferred.
* Ability to use inspections tools as required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have a working comprehension of the English language complimented with workplace levels of grammar, composition, oral and written communication skills

JOB SKILLS

Protective clothing or equipment may be required, and may include steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection

Intermittent travel may be required to support production and Carlisle IT business objectives

Ability to build cables and wire harnesses using manufacturing instructions, while meeting all workmanship standards

Writing skills required to complete documents and forms

Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders and/or special projects to meet customer demands.

Ability to adapt to schedule changes with a positive attitude. Ability and willingness to work overtime when requested are required. Some positions require 10 or 12 hour schedules as an essential duty.

Other conditions include frequent reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, crouching or stooping.
