Summary

This position is responsible for managing the daily responsibilities for a team of individuals to ensure that products are manufactured in a safe, efficient manner that meet the quality standards of the Company. This individual will support continuous improvement in all areas of the business with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency, consistent with Lean manufacturing principles.



Key Functions:


• Solve Team Members problems, as needed.
• Ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets are met.
• Paperwork, as required, to back up Production Manager.
• Must be able to communicate in a position manner at all times to all Team members.
• Fill in for Team Members in other areas, as required.



Essential Functions


• Assure productivity level of shift members is achieved
• Maintain appropriate quality of all parts produced or shipped
• Improve existing programs and methods for machining standard products
• Conduct, organize training for new and current employees, monitor performance
• Train current CNC lathe and mill operators, focusing on setup changes, crash avoidance, proper adjustments, machine maintenance
• Train potential CNC lathe operators to enhance workforce skills and capabilities, prepare some to cover absences, fill future openings.
• Create and maintain a CNC training syllabus that includes key basic machining knowledge, proper measurements and use of gauges, understanding programming, tooling, required routine maintenance, program modifications, etc.
• Ensure clean, safe work area
• Create daily work schedules for employees (cell daily planners)
• Post and schedule work orders for department to meet shipping schedule
• Order, manage shop supplies for department
• Provide safety training for employees
• Review SQDC boards daily, address needs, other concerns
• Maintain accurate inventory for department
• Manage, resolve disputes among employees
• Clearly document all incidents within department
• Train new and current employees in the assembly areas.
• Communicate effectively with Managers and other Team Leaders
• Run open order production report to verify shipment requirements are met


• Operate machinery and equipment as needed.
• Analyze both production processes and team members to determine areas for improvement. Develop and implement plans for improvement. Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, waste elimination, cost, and on time production.
• Communicate with peers on other shifts and scheduling department to determine priorities for production and to adjust schedules due to lack of resources (machine downtime, lack of staff) in the most efficient manner. This duty includes arriving before the shift starts and staying after the shift to ensure production issues between shifts are managed with minimal or no interruption to production.
• Perform quality assurance functions, including but not limited to: approving new products prior to first run, performing final/periodic quality checks. Resolve NCR's by problem solving and presenting solutions to prevent their recurrence.
• Other duties as assigned by management





Minimum Qualification


• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Minimum of 2-3 years' work experience in a Manufacturing environment.
• At least 5 years of successful set up and operation of a CNC turning center
• Machine setup and basic programming knowledge, preferred

Additional Skills


• Ability to work on several tasks at the same time
• Ability to identify list production data such as quantities and operating conditions
• Ability to inspect, examine and observe product defects
• Ability to read work orders, schedules, SOP's, and quality specifications
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
