Job Description



SUMMARY
The Machine Shop Technician is responsible for supporting the operation and improvement of the machine shop and peripheral areas including but not exclusive to: CNC machines, manual machines, EDM machines, raw material storage and fabrication equipment such as saws and ovens with exception to powered hand tools. This position will be primarily accountable for inventory management, workpiece preparation and post-processing. This position will also operate CNC machines under the guidance of the machinists and leads in the area.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Monitor and maintain raw material and tooling inventory in the machine shop.
* Support the 5S program in the area to achieve and sustain performance at or above area goals.
* Complete TPM and OEE activities in the area as applicable.
* Operate machinery, tools and equipment in a safe manner and assist in improvements to safety features in the area.
* Load/Unload operation of CNC machines with possible setup tasks on occasion.
* Preparation of workpieces for machine shop jobs such as cutting stock to length, squaring off of workpieces and disassembly.
* Post processing of machine shop products including but not exclusive to: sanding, deburring, cleaning and assembly.
* Effective and accurate use of gauges and measuring devices during inspection of completed parts.
* Regular and predictable on-site attendance

* This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities


QUALIFICATIONS

* Familiarity with CNC machines (preferably Haas vertical CNC mills, other machines such as EDM are a plus).
* Good written and verbal communication skills for effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
* Able to work in a fast-pace, ambiguous, rapidly changing environment.
* MasterCAM Software familiarity is a plus.
* Ability to read and edit G-Code is a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must maintain industry certifications as applicable to position and value stream that is supported. Including but not limited to; IPC-WHMA-A-620, IPC-JSTD-001, IPC-610, IPC-600 and NASA 8739

LANGUAGE SKILLS

* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
