Job Description




• Coordinate all activity related to IP within the CFT business
• Provide support services that facilitate the effective protection of intellectual property
• Completing and submitting relevant forms and other administrative matters required for IP protection before the United States Patent and Trademark Office,
• Obtaining and entering data with IP Law databases,
• Manage the invention disclosure submittal and approval process
• Conduct prior art research, tracking, recoding and authenticating, drafting and managing intellectual property licenses and other intellectual property related agreements
• Manage prosecution of foreign patents, licensing (tracking and reporting of contracts and royalties), government reporting, on-line patent and trademark searching, maintenance and reporting of patent metrics, preparation of cost/revenue reports and various projects
• Liaison with Lead patent law firms used by the business for patent and trademark applications
• Manage the IP database and lodge the proper case work files as determined by the business
• Coordinate review meetings -- Technical reviews and Commercial justifications
• Manage clearance studies and opinions case work contracted with the patent firms
• Establish and maintain company processes for IP policy development, governance, invention disclosures, legal firm engagement, and application strategy
• Manage the IP budget and expenses in line with CFT policy
• Chair the monthly "active cases" review meetings
• Use Clarivate Analytics search software to perform internal searches as required
• Manage the patent annuity maintenance with CPI (CPI invoicing is now handled through FYIP)
• Develop the IP portfolio family groupings such that the PLT's can understand their portfolio of patents and determine rationalization, application, and market policing plans appropriate to their product lines
• Train internal team regarding intellectual property clearance and proper intellectual property use.
• Serve on the diligence team for M&A activity
