EPDM Development Internship

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM), a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology has an opening for a EPDM Development Intern, for the summer of 2019 at our Headquarters in Carlisle, PA. This is a full time paid internship.

Project Summary:

  Project #1 will involve developing test procedures related to formulation and rubber processing on a lab and production scale for EPDM roofing membrane products. Project #2 will involve standardization of colored EPDM compounds related to track and safety surface products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collecting process data and samples from production including trial materials
  • Monitor Plant trials as directed by the EPDM Chemist related to compound modifications
  • Developing test protocols for RPA (Rubber Process Analyzer) to evaluate the relationship between compounds and plant processes
  • Benchmarking colored EPDM granules to industry standards utilizing colormeter
  • Participating in various R&D meetings with production, suppliers, purchasing and marketing personnel

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science
  • Minimum rising junior
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA required

Additional Information:

   Some travel to Greenville, Illinois and Delphos, Ohio is possible. Production floor trials will be required.

Candidates must be available to work full-time the entire duration of the internship: May 2019-August 2019.  A formal presentation to an internal audience will be required at the completion of the project.
