SUMMARY
Manage strategic and day-to-day engineering functions by utilizing extensive knowledge of Carlisle IT and/or industry standards for cable and connector assembly practices to provide technical leadership and guidance to the Manufacturing Engineering and Test Engineering Teams. Manage and coordinate the work of engineering staff placing particular emphasis on process development and standardize cost estimating efforts with the objective of streamlining production lines to increase/expand capacity. Works closely with the Sales and Operations teams to ensure profitable competitive costing models, ownership of full cycle New Product Introduction procedures and use of analytics to improve margin performance through improvement initiatives

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Manufacturing, Test Engineering processes, tooling and methods
• Provide guidance regarding design/manufacturing concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
• Maintain records and reporting system for coordination and evaluation of product performance vs. estimates in order to evaluate variances and drive improved alignment and profitability
• Conduct a continuous search of new materials, processes and procedures to enhance and improve core production lines
• Responsible for the alignment of engineering personnel in releasing new products into production to ensure optimized performance
• Prepare budgets, schedules and justifications to maintain and develop new product lines
• Prepare Authorization for Capital Expenditure (ACE) requests
• Assist sales in presentations, technical requirements and general advertising literature
• Works closely with Project Managers, Program Managers and Inside Sales to ensure customer issues are identified and resolved and commitments are clearly communicated and accepted
• Maintains the appropriate Engineering Performance Metrics to ensure alignment with Plant objectives
• Communicates design concerns, drawing errors, interpretation issues and manufacturability enhancements to customer technical contacts as necessary. Able to fully understand CarlisleIT's production capabilities and data requirements and communicate professionally with customer personnel
• Assesses cost impact of customer changes to develop a cost estimate with Product Engineering for sales
• Provides Sales with technical support involving industry standards, military specifications, CarlisleIT production capabilities and material requirements
• Works with CarlisleIT New Product Development department when necessary to aid CarlisleIT and customer in developing a manufacturable solution
• Provides support to bid/no-bid business strategy decisions, new product implementation and feasibility studies
• Serves as technical lead to Engineering Teams. Provide training and expertise necessary to develop and groom personnel in department
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Occasional lifting of 25 pounds and in a few cases up to 50 pounds

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the direction, coordination and evaluation of engineering personnel. Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety and applicable laws
• Responsibilities include interview, hire and train employees; plan, assist and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
• Provide ongoing training to applicable staff to develop and encourage their technical and operational performance. Meet with appropriate staff on a timely basis for performance evaluations and goal setting
• Ensure company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all Engineering department functions
• Display effective leadership as defined by the Carlisle IT Model Manager guidelines


QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of wire/cable harnessing and/or electro-mechanical industry and Connector Manufacturing
• Strong understanding of Product Quoting, Manufacturing Capability Develop and New Product Development and proven ability to improve supporting processes and profitability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exercise sound judgment and leadership skills in making management decisions
• A team player that can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills
• An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and a positive professional image
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Familiarity with Design Software preferred
• Knowledge of molding and over-molding preferred
• Knowledge Machine Shop and Machining Operations preferred
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or related Engineering field or equivalent experience
• Eight to ten years' experience, including standard developments, equipment justifications, plant layouts and facilities design in manufacturing industries
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must maintain industry certifications as applicable to position and value stream that is supported. Including but not limited to; IPC-WHMA-A-620, IPC-JSTD-001, IPC-610, IPC-600 and NASA 8739
LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
