Job Description



SUMMARY
Provide technical and management leadership to the Engineering department in accomplishing Tri-Star Electronics' technical, financial, and business objectives; develop a strong engineering staff to design high reliability products meeting customer and internal requirements and design specifications; establish a recognized technical leadership position for Tri-Star Electronics in the contact and connector industries.
Manage and coordinate the work of Design Engineering staff and Qualification Lab Team, support the sales and product management teams to create and maintain trust-based relationships with customers at all levels and succeed in a competitive environment.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

R&D

* Ensure adherence to Phase gate NPD process
* Lead and Support the NPD Qualification Lab
* Analyze data to determine if designs and requirements meet functional and performance specifications required by customers, internal company specifications and requirements, and/or industry standards (NAVAIR, BACC, EN. Etc.).
* Conduct a continuous search of new materials, processes and procedures to enhance and improve the Tri-Star product lines
* Creating project plans and lay out metrics which will help the organization meet the goals required for new products development and meet the Corporate policies, procedure and standard work.

SUPPORT TO MANUFACTURING DEPT

* Define the deliverables for the New Product Industrialization Processes
* Assist the manufacturing department in the development of processes, tooling and procedures to produce the required products
* Daily support to the Quality engineering team to disposition potential non-conformity
* Provide direction and technical support to the daily manufacturing troubleshooting


SUPPORT TO SALES DEPT

* Confer with management, production, and sales staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
* Translate customer needs into requirements that can be addressed by the engineering staff.


SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

* Excellent hands-one working knowledge with MS-Word, MS-Excel, and MS-PowerPoint.
* Working knowledge and understanding of ERP software programs Management, interpersonal and communication, conflict resolution skills
* Proven ability to work as a team leader and team member in a fast-paced environment
* Strong sense of responsibility, commitment, and urgency
* High initiative and creativity
* Ability to work under pressure when necessary

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

* Responsible for the direction, coordination and evaluation of product engineering personnel. Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance to company policies, procedures, safety and applicable laws
* Responsibilities include interview, hire and train employees; plan, assist and directing work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
* Provide ongoing training to applicable staff to develop and encourage their technical and operational performance. Meet with appropriate staff on a timely basis for performance evaluation and goal setting
* Ensure company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all Engineering department functions
* Display effective leadership as defined by the Carlisle IT Model Manager guidelines.
* Responsible for the patent review process for new designs

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* BS in Engineering, BS/MS in Management, or equivalent experience.
* 5-7 years experience in the mil-aero electrical/electronics field, including some customer relationship experience.
* Demonstrated skills in organizing and directing marketing/sales strategies, building strategic relationships, and increasing company profitability.
* Proficient in areas of new business development, strategic planning, contract negotiations
* Technically proficient in computer applications: MS Office, Access, CAD, PDM

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Six Sigma /TQM certified or experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

* Requires strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of management and the general employee population.
* Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal to employees of all levels and with outside customers.

Reasoning Ability:

* Ability to communicate calmly in a well thought out response.
* Must have substantial reasoning in problem solving abilities, extensive planning and scheduling skills, able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Energetic, creative with strong analytical, solid work ethic
* Knowledge of basic statistics is required.
