Job Description

Primary Function:

Provide troubleshooting support to the production and maintenance departments to maintain daily plant operations. Work on continuous improvements and maintain the plant process control systems, plant network and plant data collection systems for all operations on campus. Develop & accomplish all assigned major maintenance and capital projects for the year. Provide a list of needed improvements, repairs or replacements for the following year’s budget. This list to include estimated costs, time to accomplish and if in-house or contract labor is to be used. Monitor and maintain the campus power distribution systems with special attention to preventative maintenance, needed repairs and power loading conditions. Monitor & maintain Plant 4, 5 & 6 & CCW for compliance with OSHA, NEC and NFPA70E safety requirements.  

Essential Full Performance Knowledge

  • Full understanding of electrical wiring and control basics including general construction principles.
  • Writing ability and analysis of complex control system logic
  • Advanced control system and computer programming
  • Solid understanding Ethernet/TCIP, Profibus, DeviceNet and other communication protocols
  • Relate equipment to drawings and software
  • Equipment function and use of data handbooks
  • Hardware/software interface for process control
  • Application of PLC's, PC’s, software, HMI’s, etc., in process controls
  • Ability to work with databases and OPC servers
  • Experience working with PC’s in network applications
  • Good understanding of AutoCAD and preparing drawing packings for project installation and maintaining plant drawings.
  • Understand and evaluate proposals
  • Working knowledge of job bidding requirements
  • CCM’s Plant Engineering appropriation preparation and cost control procedures
  • Working familiarity of basic rubber, adhesive manufacturing and thermoplastic processes is a plus.

 Essential Full Performance Skills

  • PLC & HMI Programming
  • Interfacing PLC’s, HMI’s, AC/DC drives and other devices using numerous communication protocols.
  • Set up and tuning variable speed drives (both DC and AC)
  • Preparation and interpretation of electrical schematics
  • Keeping abreast of the latest technology developments in control, power distribution, communications protocols and data collection systems such as WonderWare and other programs.
  • Advanced wiring to National Electrical Code
  • Keeping abreast with OSHA and NEC electrical safety requirements
  • Drawing interpretation and use of data books
  • Analytical comparison and value judgment
  • Use of test equipment such as meters and scopes
  • Written/verbal communications

Supervisory Duty:

 Direct supervisor of contractors, plant personnel and other project team members as required.


1.   Develop goals, objectives, and schedules for projects to be carried out in All Carlisle Campus Plants

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of contractors and plant maintenance personnel during project execution and normal plant repairs.
  • Supervision of contractor supervisor/foreman and project team members.


  Education - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
