Performs an assortment of complex engineering duties such as the planning of manufacturing and the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical apparatus. Provides support to activities in the use of electrical devices and energy for commercial, domestic, and industrial use. Works directly with engineers in other disciplines to achieve goals. May provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff. May act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects.



Role Expectations:

Reporting directly to the Maintenance & Facilities Engineering Supervisor the position will be responsible to:


* Individual will be responsible for maintenance of all equipment and facility systems with an emphasis on controls including relay logic, PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), servo drives and motors, and electrical power distribution. This includes, but is not limited to, mechanical and hydraulic presses, furnaces, laser processors, grinders, steel preparation and coating equipment, gear shapers, robotics, CNC machining centers, gear shapers, dust and fume collection equipment, transformers, switchgears, busbars, HVAC equipment, and fire suppression systems.
* Possess a strong working knowledge of the NFPA 70 National Electric Code, NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, OSHA, and ANSI B11 Standards for Machine Safety.
* Manage multiple projects through all phases, including conceptual design, detailed design, writing of equipment and construction specifications, selection of equipment and contractors, and managing the construction phase, and performing equipment runoff to a checklist.
* Supervise and train project team members as necessary.
* Recommend the acquisition of new capital equipment or capital equipment improvement projects based on assessments of the existing equipment and facility in order to meet new business demands, improve processes and safety, and decrease downtime. Prepare and submit capital project proposals. Manage the capital project from approval to completion.
* Supervise outside contractors during any needed preventive maintenance, additions, or modifications to the facility's electrical power distribution systems and fire protection systems.
* Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
* Must be an excellent communicator, facilitator, and coach. Must have a strong sense of urgency with the ability to meet deadlines and work flexible hours when needed. Must possess strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and/or in a cross-functional work team environment.
* Reviews and recommends ways to minimize energy usage so as to operate facilities in a more cost effective and environmentally friendly manner.
* Investigate and test vendors' and competitors' products.
* Lead machine risk assessments including, hazard identification, assessing risk level, and the engineering and implementation of risk reduction measures.


* Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline.
* 7+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Experienced with programming HMI systems and interfacing them to PLC's. Experienced with programming Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC systems.
* Possesses a strong working knowledge of machine controls, automation, electrical, mechanical power transmission, and electrical power distribution systems.
* Significant experience leading projects. PMP certification a plus.
* Strong technical leadership, organization, teamwork and communication skills.
* Experienced working in a Total Productive Maintenance program.
* Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D CAD modeling. Experience with Pro-E a plus.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills
* Lean Six Sigma training and certification (Green Belt) is a plus.
