Job Description

SUMMARY

Maintain reports (Tier II, Form R, Hazardous Waste, Storm water discharge, POTW, Air Quality, etc.) and permits required by all federal and state regulations and to respond to customer regulatory inquiries and work with others being supportive of their needs. Provide assistance/guidance in plant pollution prevention/waste minimization projects to reduce operating costs. Promote the general health and safety of employees, and promoting environmental, health and safety best practices within the El Segundo and Riverside facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Maintains current working knowledge of environmental and safety legislation and regulation affecting the workplace and keeps supervisor and others regularly informed.
* Work with all levels of employees to create a partnership within the facility that will promote a positive approach to ensuring worker health and safety.
* Maintain the infrastructure and organization necessary to consistently deliver industry leading Safety and environmental performance through training and development of all applicable written plans and programs ensuring compliance with local, state and federal mandates.
* Update environmental compliance plans based on the site regulatory requirements (Federal, State & Local permits.)
* Completes all weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual inspections/reports required by local, state and federal regulations and update all required company reports.
* Maintain all written compliance plans and programs including but not limited to: Contingency Plan & Emergency Procedures; RCRA Hazardous Waste Management Program; Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan.
* Maintain log of all hazardous chemicals in the workplace to include conducting quarterly audits.
* Conduct weekly inspections of any hazardous material storage, transfer or satellite accumulation areas.
* Works with the Quality department in developing, reviewing and updating safety, environmental and other quality controlled documents.
* Provides technical assistance in evaluating indoor air quality and in investigations involving hazardous materials, noise dosimetry or any other industrial hygiene practice required.
* Assists with the implementation and review of all items related to ISO 14001.

QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent EHS work experience. Minimum 2 years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledgeable in EHS regulations.

JOB SKILLS/TYPE OF PERSON
* Knowledge of U.S. regulatory requirements regarding RCRA. Skill in interpreting and applying OSHA and EPA regulations and developing compliant workplace programs. Skill in developing and providing safety-related technical training and in developing written SOPs and programs. Skill in designing exposure sampling plans, interpreting results, and completing necessary documents, records and reports. Ability to evaluate exposure controls and identify and implement improvements to exposure controls.
* Direct experience in developing and implementing environmental and safety stewardship programs. Direct experience developing and implementing waste minimization plans and programs. Demonstrated ability to influence by example and the ability to work with all levels of the organization. Ability to develop and make presentations before various audience sizes at all levels of the organization.
* Ability to productively deal with regulatory agencies, consultants and other contractor personnel.
* Familiar with Process Safety Management (PSM)
* Manage hazard identification, analysis and control programs.
* Ability to accomplish tasks with the desired results.
* Ability to drive results in either a team environment or an individual project through resource efficiency and multi-tasking.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel while keeping those projects on schedule and within budget.

LANGUAGE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with wide variety of audiences (operators, management, engineering, etc.). Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products, primarily the use of word processing, environmental database applications, presentation and spreadsheet software. Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Fundamental concept of mathematics to the rules of compliance calculations, threshold limits and hazardous waste quantification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position must be very visible with majority of time on the manufacturing floor. Part of the work will be conducted from an office environment. Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities while extended periods of standing may be required for shop floor assignments within an airconditioned manufacturing facility.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
Safety rated glasses are required for the job. Safety shoes may be required in some situations. Other PPE may be required based on exposures. ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
