EHS Internship

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM), a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology has an opening for a EHS Intern, for the summer of 2019 at our Headquarters in Carlisle, PA. This is a full time paid internship.

Project Summary:

  The main project is to help the Carlisle campus develop a site-specific written safety program. The intern will work with the Campus Safety Coordinator to develop written EHS plans such as lockout, confined spaces, fall protection, hearing conservation, emergency action as well as other applicable topics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties will include developing and administering site-specific safety training for employees, participating in incident investigations, attending safety committees and conducting condition audits

Specific deliverables will include:

  • Final site-specific written plans
  • Completed facility specific safety training
  • Completed safety audit reports


  • Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Environmental, Safety, Chemistry or other related degree
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA required
  • Good understanding of General Industry OSHA standards
  • How to develop and deploy effective training
  • Be an effective verbal and written communicator

Additional Information:

  This position will require walking, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending and stationary computer work.

Some brief overnight travel may be required.

This position conducts its work in a manufacturing environment with normal temperature and humidity range. Atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dust, gas and poor ventilation.

Candidates must be available to work full-time the entire duration of the internship: May 2019-August 2019.  A formal presentation to an internal audience will be required at the completion of the project.
