SUMMARY
The EHS Coordinator is the full-time environmental health and safety support to the operations and ensures all practices follow state and federal environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations, and promote environmental, health and safety best practices within the Saint Augustine facility. The EHS Coordinator demonstrates team leadership, ability to influence and motivate others, and act as a change agent.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Maintain current working knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulation affecting the workplace and keeps Manager and others regularly informed.
* Responsible for developing a working partnership within the facility that will promote a positive approach to insuring worker health and safety.
* Practice safe work techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines and procedures as set out by the company.
* Responsible for establishing and maintaining the infrastructure and organization necessary to consistently deliver industry leading Safety and Health performance through training and development of all applicable written plans and programs ensuring compliance with 29-CFR-1910 as well as any required EPA mandates.
* Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating risks and implementing control measures through Job Safety Analysis program.
* Provide advice, assist and audit line management to ensure that effective EHS practices are implemented and effective.
* Perform and contribute to the site training plans by conducting employee orientations, emergency response training, and coordination of applicable training programs for Operations.
* Complete all weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual inspections required by local, state and federal regulations and update/submit required Company reports.
* Manage the weekly inspections of any hazardous material storage, transfer or satellite accumulation areas.
* Participate as key stakeholder in the EHS Committee and in their activities including self-audits, awareness, program or task development, communication and recognition programs.
* Partner with HR in order to conduct and document injury, accident and near miss investigations in order to determine root cause. Implement and follow up on all corrective and preventative measures in order to determine 300 log recording applicability as required by OSHA.
* Oversight responsibility for ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance.
* Manages/oversee the workplace ergonomic program.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
An Associate Degree or higher in Environmental Health or Safety with 1-3 years of experience or a minimum of 3 years of manufacturing environmental and safety experience with a strong knowledge of both Environmental regulations and Health and Safety regulatory knowledge.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

* Associate Safety Professional (desired)
* OSHA 40-hour hazardous waste operator
* OHSA 30 HR Training
* CPR/FA/AED certification
* DOT HM126 Training Certification

LANGUAGE SKILLS

* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with wide variety of audiences (operators, management, engineering, etc.).

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

* Fundamental concept of mathematics to the rules of compliance calculations, threshold limits and hazardous waste quantification.

JOB SKILLS

* Demonstrated experience in the application and integration of EH&S management systems with ISO-9001, AS-9100 and ISO 14001 in a manufacturing facility.
* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products, primarily the use of word processing, environmental database applications, PowerPoint presentation and spreadsheet software.
* Knowledge of U.S. regulatory requirements regarding RCRA. Skill in interpreting and applying OSHA and EPA regulations and developing compliant workplace programs. Skill in developing and providing safety-related technical training and in developing written SOPs and programs. Skill in designing exposure sampling plans, interpreting results, and completing necessary documents, records and reports. Ability to evaluate exposure controls and identify and implement improvements to exposure controls.
* Direct experience in developing and implementing environmental and safety stewardship programs.
* Direct experience developing and implementing waste minimization plans and programs.
* Demonstrated ability to influence by example and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
* Ability to develop and make presentations before various audience sizes at all levels of the organization.
* Ability to productively deal with regulatory agencies, consultants and other contractor personnel.
* Position has a wide range of EH&S decision-making requirements such as people, resources, process controls, supplies, environmental, safety and policy development and modification.
* Manage hazard identification, analysis and control programs.
* Ability to accomplish tasks with the desired results.
* Ability to drive results in either a team environment or an individual project through resource efficiency and multi-tasking.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel while keeping those projects on schedule and within budget.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

* This position must be very visible with majority of time on the manufacturing floor. Part of the work will be conducted from an office environment. Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities while extended periods of standing may be required for shop floor assignments within an air-conditioned manufacturing facility.
* Must be willing to work overtime, off-shifts, and holidays as needed or as required due to unforeseen conditions, circumstances or events. Must be available to be on call 24/7.
