Job Description



Performs complex design investigation, analyses, feasibility studies and CAD design for new components and products using customer supplied data. Recommends and implements changes to resolve field problems and evaluates prototypes for design modification to improve product performance and reliability. Provides 3D CAD models for manufacture of prototypes. Confers with customer as needed to ensure product meets all requirements.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Read and interpret engineering sketches and blueprints.
• Interpret drawings per DOD-STD-100 and ANSI-Y14.
• Familiarity with standard drawing practices.
• Familiarity with geometric tolerancing.
• Create and modify engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Solid works software providing necessary details such as finish, tolerances, etc.
• Perform other engineering tasks as necessary relating to engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with product materials and production processes.
• Determines scale, performs complex mathematical calculations and prepares layouts for detailing.
• Provides 3D CAD models for manufacture of prototypes.
• Performs complex design investigation, analyses, feasibility studies and CAD design for new components and products using customer supplied data
• Recommends and implements required changes to resolve field problems and evaluates prototypes for design modifications to improve product performance and reliability.
• Confers with customer to discuss design problem areas and to ensure that product meets all requirements.
• Knowledge and application of engineering change control process.
• Use MS Excel, Word and Access software to create bill of materials, specification sheets, correspondences and update/maintain engineering databases.
• Competent in computer operations including CAD with 3D modeling, drafting techniques and engineering terminology.
