Job Description

Purpose: Lead and manage the Jackson Order Picking and Shipping functions to achieve continual customer satisfaction, optimize efficiency, quality, ISO compliance, and on time shipments as measured by Jackson's goal of +98% On Time.
Essential Functions:
Plan and coordinate all order picking, and shipping activities to meet production and customer service goals in a timely and cost efficient -- per budget manner.

Assist Distribution Manager with developing and monitoring performance goals in all areas of performance, including but not limited to: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, 5S and Inventory.

Supervise, train, and motivate fulfillment employees and provide direction and leadership to enable them to meet requirements of accuracy and on time delivery of orders.

Communicate effectively and professionally with subordinates, other departments, customer service, UPS, freight haulers, management.

Assist Distribution Manager with monitoring departmental costs, employee performance, overtime, inventory levels and implement corrective actions as needed.

Assist Distribution Manager with insuring a safe and clean working environment.

Perform other related responsibilities as needed and as assigned.

Bachelor Degree in operations, business or engineering related field, or equivalent.

Five (5) years distribution management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Exposure to operations, including manufacturing, distribution, order fulfillment and inventory systems. Working knowledge of ERP, warehouse management, computerized database and spreadsheet formats.

Ability to support management with assessing current environment, team and production capabilities, needs of the business and make directional changes to support commitments to customers.

Leadership -- lead fulfillment department; take charge, and offer suggestions and direction. Clearly articulate requirements and standards to employees.

Adaptability -- ability to create and manage change (positive or negative) -- organizationally and individually.

Ability to create and analyze data to identify non-conformances and root cause to operational issues and problems. Has the ability to make timely decisions on appropriate corrections to make and take immediate action within the responsibilities of the position.

Makes recommendations on strategic improvement and other issues to immediate manager and operations manager.

Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems independently and facilitation of small group exercises. Problem solving skills training in 3A, 8D and lean six sigma is critical to the success of the position.
