Director of Human Resources

The Director of Human Resources is a strategic business partner supporting our corporate business functions (such as Finance, Sales, IT, R&D) by providing guidance in a variety of areas such as departmental structure, performance optimization, employment law, compliance and employee engagement.  In addition to providing direct HR support for our company headquarters, the HR Director will also provide leadership and oversight for the payroll, benefits, talent acquisition teams that support the broader organization.  As a member of the leadership team, the HR Director is responsible for fostering a strong organizational culture that emphasizes safety, quality, continuous improvement, customer focus and results orientation.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and monitors HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures.
  2. Collaborates with management team to review, recommend and implement changes to HR policies, procedures, and practices. 
  3. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance.
  4. Ensures organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all employment matters.
  5. Communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed. 
  6. Promotes and contributes to a positive company culture.
  7. Assists management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage and salary program.
  8. Analyzes exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations and develops strategies to improve retention.
  9. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate on personnel matters.
  10. With respect to division headquarters, works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  11. Participates in staff development for the organization.
  12. Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs.
  13. Provides direct leadership and oversight to the Payroll & Benefits Administration & Talent Acquisition teams.
  14. Participates on committees and special projects as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development or related field required.Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience
  • PHR or SPHR certification is a plus
  • Experience with payroll and time clock software, along with strong MS Office suite knowledge is required
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal is essential
  • Excellent active listening, negation and presentation skills
  • In depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices
  • Ability to develop effective relationships across all levels of the organization
