We are looking for a Commodities Manager to join our purchasing team in Carlisle, PA  

This position will be responsible for overall management of assigned commodities. This includes but is not limited to working with Research and Development, Manufacturing and Inventory Control to determine sourcing needs, working with existing and potential suppliers to approve new materials and sources, reviewing operational needs with plant schedulers and material planners, travel to supplier locations, and internal/external communications to assure a consistent supply.  The position requires the ability to build strong working relationships, communicate effectively and employ negotiating skills to effectively execute strategic purchasing activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communications with suppliers – to assure competitive pricing and reliable product supply for manufacturing and/or distribution requirements. 
  • Identification and development of new sources and/or working with existing sources on current supply needs and future opportunities. 
  • Business meetings with internal customers to identify and develop sourcing priorities. 
  • Review of inventory requirements and inventory investment with MRP Controllers/Material Planners and other internal customers. 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering or a related major.
  • 5 years of prior experience in a similar role, including purchasing and inventory management.  
  • SAP systems experience preferred.
  • Metals sourcing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of hedging and inventory risk preferred
  • Some travel required 25%
