LEAN PROCESS STANDARDIZATION INTERN

Job Summary:

Carlisle Construction Materials, a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology has an opening for a Lean Process Standardization Intern, for the 2018 summer, at our Carlisle, PA location.  This internship will assist with our team’s efforts to standardize processes from receipt of order through coordinating and executing successful shipment. There will be both technical writing and Lean systematic process standardization components of this internship.

This is a paid internship.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Validate, update, and improve current process documents by observing the processes in practice and working with the team members actually performing these functions.
  • Create new process documents through observation and working closely with a 17 person customer service / logistics coordination team.
  • Develop courses of action to improve long term sustainment (process audit systems, certification/recertification, process owners, change management systems, and/or other sustainment tools.)
  • This internship will provide development and experience in all of the following areas:
  • Using Lean standardized work methodology in practice hands-on with a large cross-functional team.
  • Technical writing with collaboration and feedback from team members and leaders.
  • High level understanding of an extensive manufacturing and supply chain system covering well over $1 billion in customer shipments annually.
  • Exposure to Lean and Quality Management Systems in practice.
  • General experience and mentorship in a fast-paced, collaborative, customer focused work environment.

Job Requirements:

Applicants must be Junior/Senior status in a Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Operational Excellence, or other applicable major. The ideal candidate will have strong analytic and computer skills, including a strong knowledge of MS Office suite.  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are also required.  Experience with SAP or other similar system is a plus. Familiarity with basic Lean principles is highly preferred (with significant additional mentorship available during the internship to advance this knowledge).  Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

Candidates must be available to work the entire duration of the internship: May 14th – August 3rd.  A formal presentation to an internal audience will be required at the completion of the project.
