Job Description

Carlisle Construction Materials, a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology has an immediate opening for Transportation Manager at its Mead, NE location.   The Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and maintaining economical and efficient transportation services for the company. Other functions include the day to day supervision of the activities in the transportation department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all safety programs and transportation records for the company.
  • Provide support for production managers, general foreman’s and operation managers.
  • Develop manpower and transportation plans.
  • Responsible for transportation analysis and savings/cost opportunity analysis and the implementation and management of cost analysis measures plan and monitor budgets.
  • Provide projections for inbound and outbound freight expenses by month and quarter.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting of volume projections to common carriers.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate the performance of our drivers.
  • Ensure drivers are trained, licensed, tested and certified as required by law to drive company vehicles.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings and problem solving sessions.
  • Design, provide and routinely assess driving, safety, and other related training.  
  • Manage budget, assuring that expenditures are appropriate and within allowable expenses.
  • Schedule delivers with a balance between outside carriers and a small company fleet.
  • Schedule routine & emergency repairs & maintenance of all company vehicles.
  • Ensure daily, monthly, and annual inspections of all company vehicles.
  • Perform other job duties as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Education –Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Prior experience in a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor/Manager or General Manager role
  • Has working knowledge of DOT regulations and a logistics background
  • Previous training in loading of product and ability to coordinate efficient routes
  • Knowledge of computer systems and previous experience with programs such as Microsoft Office suite and SAP
  • Solid problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required
  • Strong time management and follow up skills
  • Understanding of math, written, and reading skills
  • For this position, it is required to be able to do the following abilities: sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
