Job Description

SUMMARY

Test Engineer will work from drawings, written and oral instructions, or develop plans to execute prototype builds and product testing. Assignment is to provide direction for the successful completion of developing testing practices, and to ensure compliance to contractual test requirements through the development of processes, plans, procedures, automation, electrical & mechanical testing devices and fixtures.

The ideal candidate would be a highly-skilled electrical engineer with an excellent mechanical aptitude who is a pragmatic problem solver & innovator with a thorough understanding of the use of various tools and equipment for prototyping and testing. The candidate needs the ability to work with everything from raw drawings to detailed CAD models to fabricate close-tolerance parts, as well as jigs and fixtures.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Performs the set-up, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, harnesses, instruments, and mechanical assemblies
* Reads and understands technical drawings, procedures, and industry standards
* Performs test process verifications
* Writes test procedures and trains technicians on performing tests
* Provides leadership, training, and mentoring of test engineering technicians
* Participates in closed loop corrective action teams
* Performs failure and root cause analysis, implements corrective action, and verifies effectiveness of corrective action
* Operates programmable quality control equipment
* Assists in product design, development, and production
* Ensures proper test-related documentation is completed, verified, and approved
* Prepares written reports and makes recommendations for procedural changes
* Ensures quality of all incoming & outgoing projects
* Develops new apparatus or fixture designing for testing in a manufacturing environment
* Performs test data analysis
* Uses knowledge of electrical (digital/analog), & RF theory for testing products
* Operates and programs a variety of computer, automated and manual test equipment
* Oversees several projects simultaneously and provide scheduling support to operations
* Automation programming for a variety of equipment
* Assists with pre-sales activities for test project proposal and services capabilities
* Streamlines data gathering, storage, and access to minimize effort required to generate required customer reports

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* 4-year electrical engineering degree plus 3-5 years of experience or 10+ years in a closely related technical field
* Advanced electrical (digital/analog) & RF theory knowledge
* Advanced automation programming preferred (C, Java, Batch, Lua, Logic)
* Hands-on experience with operation and programming of bench RF/DC/AC test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Meters, Pulse Generators, Oscillo Spectrum Analyzers, HI-Pot Testers & Cable Harness Testers
* Experience with developing production test systems and its subsequent commissioning/training
* Advanced schematic interpretation
* Moderate 3D & 2D CAD designing skills preferred



LANGUAGE SKILLS

* The employee must have a working comprehension of the English language complimented with workplace levels of grammar, composition, oral and written communication skills

* Advanced reading and mathematical skills
* Ability to work under pressure in meeting time schedules
* Must be able to be self-supervised and possess discipline

* Must have good interpersonal skills, can coordinate and resolve technical problems and work well in teams

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Carlisle IT Franklin is a clean facility housing different kinds of machinery, equipment, processes and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.
