POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Services Manager directs and coordinates activities of Engineering, Maintenance, Tool Room, and the Die Shop. This role is also accountable for managing projects related to automation, tooling, molding machines, and secondary equipment. The Technical Services Manager maintains production processes and continuously seeks to improve plants operations as well.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In order to perform this position successfully, the Technical Services Manager will be required to accomplish these essential duties and responsibilities personally and/or through subordinate supervisors:

• Improve plant safety performance and key performance indicators. Strives to eliminate workplace hazards, reduce ergonomic concerns, and works with department managers to improve the overall safety of the plant. This includes adhering to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices.
• Adhere to all procedures and process to maintain GMP and Safe Quality Food standards.
• Plan and conduct investigative studies on excessive production and/or manufacturing costs utilizing Carlisle Operating System (COS) tools and methodology. Also, directs and implement solutions to reduce costs.
• Formulate and drive engineering projects and programs to completion. This includes interfacing with customers, Purchasing, Quality and Engineering personnel to ensure successful completion of new and existing projects.
• Assist corporate R&D department with new tool design and project start-ups.
• Continually improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency. This includes developing secondary operation and new automation equipment to reduce cost and improve production.
• Provide estimates of manufacturing costs for new products and tooling, and recommends options and/or alternatives.
• Quote tool repair, tool modification at customer or Production's request.
• Decide when and if tool maintenance is required and determine strategy for correcting any non-conformances.
• Align with and monitor key performance indicators; proactively develop action plans to mitigate unfavorable metrics. Also report out on progress during management review.
• Collaborate with plant leadership and other key business partners to develop departmental protocols and practices.
• Ensure an effective cross-training initiative in order to promote employee engagement and team performance.
• Take ownership of personal development by continually refreshing business acumen through relevant literature, seminars and trade shows.
• Perform additional duties as required in order to support key business goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Bachelor Degree in Engineering
• Strong knowledge and experience implementing and managing TPM programs
• Strong background and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (5S, SMED, Structured Problem Solving)
• Minimum of five years' experience in the Plastics industry
