Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

• A demonstrated knowledge of C (and preferably C++) programming shown by previous work history.

• Almost all existing product code is in C, but going forward the object based product code will require the use of C++. This should not be an issue for graduates with 15 years' experience or less.
• Experience creating code to control peripheral interface chips from embedded processors.

• Typically engineers with a good knowledge of electronics and software will do better at this than software-only engineers (IMHO).
• Experience using multiple micro-computer families; e.g. Freescale's Coldfire or Kinetis, Micro Chip's PIC, Atmel's ATTiny, Intel's x86, ARM Cortex, etc. Note: all the parts in italics, plus others not listed, have been or are currently used in Finishing Brands products.

• Typically each manufacturer has a development environment of IDE, which is similar to but different from every other manufacturer. The engineer needs to be able to move between multiple environments as well as multiple hardware restrictions.
• The ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues. Not only when developing new products but also when called upon to correct issues in existing products

• A BSCS or SBEE degree, preferably with 5 or more years of work experience in embedded systems development.
• Training and experience in electronics design and development. An ability to design at the system level would be a definite plus.
• Experience in the development and design of high voltage cascades would be beneficial.
