Job Description

Responsible for planning and directing activities associated with the development
and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and products. Assists in administering the total quality assurance program encompassing APQP, planning, evaluation and reporting on all quality aspects of a product, from its conception through manufacturing, fabrication, storage and delivery with intent to provide an optimum quality product at the lowest cost.
Also provides day-to-day direction and leadership to quality inspectors. Plans and delegates workload of hourly employees across shifts, and adjusts assignments as necessary. Interprets and enforces Company policies and maintains employee records as required.

Ensure customer requirements are met through:

Understanding and selection of the customer's special characteristics

Developing and resolving preventative and corrective actions related to the customer

Work with the customer to design and develop their product, and

Develop and implement all required quality documentation for new products.

Lead product validation activities for new products including all APQP activities.

Provide support to functional areas with regard to process and control improvement.

Revise the quality system as necessary to continually meet customer requirements.

Oversee plant wide statistical process control implementation and maintenance.

Provide day-to-day direction and leadership to quality inspectors

Plans and delegates workload of inspectors across shifts, and adjusts assignments as necessary.

Interprets and enforces Company policies and maintains employee records & performance evaluations as required.

Support purchasing and Supplier Quality Engineer in the development of our vendor base and insure that all specifications are met.

Review all new or revised company products to insure quality standards are met.

Develops and implements quality training programs for hourly and salary employees to support customer and ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.

Develops and implements inspection standards and methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant materials.

Designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data.

Participates in and supports the Company's Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing initiatives.

Applies a working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) as applicable.

Minimum of five years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideal candidate would be a "hands-on" person with shop floor experience. Knowledge of diverse manufacturing processes is a plus. Six Sigma training and certification (Green or Black Belt) is a plus.
