Job Description

SUMMARY

The mission of the Quality Engineer is to enhance the quality of materials and products through detection, analysis, and correction of conditions leading to nonconformance. They continually improve their knowledge of customer requirements and internal procedures, apply to product realization, and monitor the result. They are the voice of quality concerns across the supply chain. The Quality Engineer seeks continuous improvement of the quality management system. Specific objectives are assigned to roles designated as Supplier, Customer, and Manufacturing QE.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Understand all material/product requirements and support inspections.
* Investigate nonconformance reports and coordinate corrective / preventive actions.
* Assist with development of process realization and product inspections.
* Participate on improvement teams for safety, quality, delivery, or cost.
* Provide excellent customer service for post-delivery concerns.
* Handle customer quality initiatives such as projects and audits.
* Perform internal audits and mentor process owners toward improvement.
* Collect and analyze internal/external quality data and report.
* Manage capital projects for quality and test capabilities.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility. Provides regular oversight of technicians performing test methods. Assists the Laboratory Supervisor with training and evaluation documentation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidates should have



* Technical four-year degree in Engineering field
* Four-year degree in different then Engineering field plus at least 3 years in Quality Engineer role
* Achievement in Lean / Six Sigma environment.
* Ability to utilize standard quality tools for problem solving.
* Knowledge in related software tools for analysis and reporting.
* Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 quality system maintenance
* Team leadership qualities.









CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

* Related ASQ certification is desirable, otherwise study to complete supported.



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent ability to read, write, and speak English must be demonstrated. This role is responsible for document control and continuous development of procedures for quality processes. Proper documentation of corrective actions and audit results is key. Presentation of performance metrics is a regular duty.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

This position is required to analyze data for statistical performance and possible utilize algebraic expressions to solve problems. Collection and processing of data is done through SAP and Microsoft Access databases so experience and training toward effective utilization is needed.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

* Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
* Frequently required to stand and walk
* Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
* Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
* Specific vision abilities required, i.e. close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus



WORK ENVIRONMENT

* Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high voltages.
* Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
* Exposure to moderate noise levels



PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

* ASTM F--2412--2005, ANSI Z41--1999, or ANSI Z41--1991 rated safety toed shoes and clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job.

10% travel may be required to audit outside test providers, observe testing,
