Job Description


SUMMARY: The Process Technician is responsible for producing maximum production of parts that conforms to quality assurance specifications. Assures that all work performed on own shift is at/or above injection molding standard parameters.


• Responsible for producing good quality parts with proper number of cavities at/or above injection molding standards as well as auxiliary equipment and fixtures.
• Responsible for ensuring that all safety features installed on machines are in good working order.
• Responsible for filling out work orders to correct machines or molds not functioning properly. Responsible for correcting or reporting to supervisor all unsafe conditions or machinery in assigned areas.
• Responsible entering all necessary data into the Mattec System and filling out technical portion of production recap report for assigned areas.
• Responsible for preparing and/or updating set-up sheets.
• Responsible for making sure inserts are in the molds and correct resin is in the hopper.
• Responsible for working closely with Process Technicians, Supervisors, Production Assistants, and Utilities on color changes, completion of work orders, and new mold startups. Responsible for ensuring Utilities have dryers and hoppers working properly and set at correct temperature.
• Collects start up and shut down samples from each mold in assigned area, and delivers to Quality Assurance Department.
• Responsible for minor maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Responsible for cleaning and protecting mold, inspection for repairs, and tagging of mold before pulling out of press.
• Responsible for adhering to other guidelines which includes organization and prioritization of activities during shift, developing plans to maximize efficiency, and maintain efficiency of molding presses.
• Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and Supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
• Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
• Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.


• College or technical degree is preferred; High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Injection Molding experience required


• Ability to interpret part drawings, knowledge of plastic part quality requirements, and computer systems required.
• Must have knowledge in technical set-up of injection molding machines and working knowledge on establishment of robust processes.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
