Job Description

SUMMARY

The Machinist/Machinist II's primary function is to maintain and repair molds necessary to ensure quality of products to support production, and includes new product builds as required. This position must be capable of using various measuring devices, including micrometers, height gages, depth gages, indicators and lathes, and must understand the value of materials and handle such accordingly.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




• Responsible for investigating and studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample
• parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operation, and set up required to
• repair and maintain molds.
• Responsible for setting up and operating conventional and special purpose machines to fabricate various types of mold components.
• Responsible for the operating and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
• Responsible for verifying finished work to specifications.
• Responsible for fitting and assembling parts, verifying dimensions and alignment of assembly.
• Responsible for installing machined replacement parts in machines and equipment and testing operation of unit to ensure function and performance.
• Responsible for communicating with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others and resolving
• any machining or assembly problems.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate accounts of all work performed on a daily basis.
• Responsible for inspecting, repairing, polishing, and checking water circulation and various other procedures.
• Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
• Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and Supervisor's instruction in
• such a way as to maximize personal output.
• Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers.
• Immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability in accordance with Safety procedures and protocols.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures,

or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability

to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and

the public.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of

plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and

proportions to practical situations.



REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an

extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and

concrete variables.
