Job Description



SUMMARY
The Plating Operator is responsible for operating the specific plating lines and equipment as assigned by the Production Department Manager. In addition, the operator will be required to perform both chemical and mechanical maintenance on the plating lines and equipment.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operate plating line(s) including, but not limited to:

* Start-ups
* Shutdowns
* Stringing up the plating line
* Running the plating line
* Performing in-process inspections
Perform chemical maintenance on plating line(s) including, but not limited to:

* Performing chemical additions to bath chemistries
* Dumping and replenishing bath chemistries
* Packing of anodes
Perform mechanical maintenance on plating line(s) including, but not limited to:

* Cleaning/etching plating racks, rollers, and tanks
* Cleaning of pit beneath ARACON plating line catwalk
* Replacing filters
* Cleaning/replacing of brushes, eyelets, and guides
* Preventative maintenance on plating line(s) and equipment
* Performing maintenance on Waste Treatment and Air Handling systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals in solid or liquid form. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electric shock, risk of radiation (from x-ray machine), and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves, face shield, apron, respirator, and/or rubber boots) at given times.

Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job when in the manufacturing areas. Safety toed shoes or boots (ASTM 2413-11 standard) are required in specific manufacturing areas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* High school diploma or GED
* Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred

* While performing this job, the employee is required to stand at machines for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl through confined areas or climb ladders.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
* The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. The employee must also be able to move up to 400 pounds with the aid of a hand truck.
* While performing the daily duties of this job, the employee will regularly use the following equipment: Micrometer, multimeter, tensiometer, rectifiers, solder machine, tensile tester, temperature chamber, arbor press, filters in tanks, nozzles, wrenches, ratchets and sockets, and screwdrivers
