SUMMARY
Engineering Supervisor has direct supervisory responsibility for a technical group within the plant. The engineering supervisor's primary responsibility is to lead, coach, develop and manage a technical team's performance to support plant objectives, measure and achieve KPIs, and complete critical engineering projects on schedule.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Leads teams using known lean and six sigma problem solving tools to provide technical support and troubleshooting/ problem resolution to ensure factory safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost targets are achieved.
* Partners with Human Resources to recruit and hire technical staff.
* Creates and implements training plans for staff.
* Mentors, Coaches and facilitates development planning of staff.
* Responsible for performance management of technical staff.
* Leads cross-functional project Management of engineering projects -- including but not limited to capital equipment, problem solving, new product/process/tooling/software development, cost savings, customer related programs.
* Process Monitoring and support of continuous improvement programs.
* Participates in engineering activities (design, analysis, process development etc) as required to support plant objectives.
* Champion lean methodology in manufacturing cells and drive team to COS excellence.
* Lead efforts in DFM review on new projects to ensure new products are launched with lean methodology.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, develop and performance manage a technical team of typically 3-8 direct reports.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in a factory environment to include walking the factory floor and other related activated as well as working in an administrative environment.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job when in the manufacturing areas. Safety toed shoes or boots (ASTM 2413-11 standard) are required in specific manufacturing areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Related field.
* Master's Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Management, MBA or related field preferred.
* Previous experience in made to order manufacturing environment.
* Experience with Lean/Six Sigma Tools.
* Formal Problem Solving Training (RCA, PDCA, 8D, etc.) preferred.
* Experience with ERP system preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

JOB SKILLS

* People Leadership skills to lead technical team of approx. 3-8 direct reports.
* Excellent oral and written communications skills. Technical writing experience preferred.
* Able to adapt quickly to changes driven through organization strategy, continuous improvement or customer needs.
* Able to explain complex operations and methods clearly and concisely to other employees, suppliers and customers.
* Able to lead, participate in and advise cross functional project teams
