Job Description


SUMMARY
The Design Engineer -- Cable Assemblies & Terminals, designs new products and supports the manufacturing of existing designs. They analyze test results and recommend appropriate design changes. They resolve technical problems that would significantly affect manufacturing and product development schedules.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Use of SolidWorks for parts/tooling design and development
* Design review and verification
* Partner with the Quality Department for development of Qualification Test Plans and Reports
* Support quote process with drawings and parts lists
* Translation of customer requirements into manufactured parts
* Core team member for Design and Process Risk Analysis
* Participate in value stream team, productivity, product quality, safety, and waste meetings/projects
* Accumulate technical data to determine equipment performance specifications
* Set up and operate manufacturing and test equipment such as molding machines, and others as necessary for prototype constructions, product development, and process/productivity improvements.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Capable of leading project assigned resources for successful completion.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
This is an air-conditioned facility with many pieces of equipment that produce heat. The following are potential items encountered: fumes, dust, noise, hazardous/toxic chemicals. Appropriate training is provided and documented based on job placement that complies with OSHA and EPA regulations.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
ASTM F--2412--2005, ANSI Z41--1999, or ANSI Z41--1991 rated safety toed shoes and clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

EXPERIENCE
2+ years of engineering experience including design and development of high performance/high reliability terminations for power cables and assemblies. Experience with New Product Development Phase Gate processes, product testing, and Design/Process FMEA realization and sustainment. Knowledge of material compositions and plating/coating. Familiarity with MIL Defense Harness design manufactured to Military specifications is a plus.

* Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
* Ability to apply algebraic and statistical tools for analysis of product and process
* Ability to use of MS Office software including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project
* Proficient use of SolidWorks
