Job Description

The mission of the Lean and Continuous Improvement Lead is to reduce operating costs by serving as a front-line champion of the Carlisle Operating System (COS) through leading and facilitating continuous improvement activities. The Lean and Continuous Improvement Lead will coordinate and facilitate COS activities such as kaizen events and lean trainings and will maintain systems and processes to ensure improvement activities are sustained. The Lean and Continuous Improvement Lead will also play an integral role in policy deployment activities, Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI), and metrics reporting at regular intervals.


* Champion lean initiatives in support of the Carlisle Operations System including shop floor, business process, and point kaizen events
* Support the organization and business needs by leading and facilitating cross-functional kaizen events at Kent and other CarlisleIT locations as required, and with the use of external consultants when necessary
* Lead and maintain lean culture of continuous improvement in all areas of the organization utilizing training, lean tools and providing training where necessary via programs such as the Carlisle Operations System Specialist (COSS) program and kaizen first day training
* Establish, monitor and enhance continuous improvement metrics in partnership with department managers and key stakeholders
* Take primary accountability for effective execution of Policy Deployment and plant metrics reporting
* Lead Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) deployment objectives and continually work with kaizen area leaders to ensure sustainment of gains
* Support problem-solving activities on manufacturing floor
* Maintain COS Standard Operating Procedures and visual controls such as scorecards, 5S, task cards, COS plant participation charts and COS communication boards
* Regular maintenance and audit of existing lean programs such as Gemba Walks, Improvement Kata, MDI management reviews, and progressive 5S
* Ensure effective execution and evolution of kaizen sustainment activities and provide the necessary feedback to the teams for optimal post-kaizen results
* Regular and predictable on-site attendance.

* Proficiency with Kata techniques including Coaching Kata and Improvement Kata required
* Proficient within MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Outlook
* Excellent presentation, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with a diverse group of individuals at all levels in the organization
* Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously


* High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
* Bachelor's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree in Business Operations or related field preferred
* Three plus years of leadership experience required.
* Three plus years of background in the training, support and implementation of Lean Tools including facilitation of Kaizen activities required

Must maintain industry certifications as applicable to position and value stream that is supported. Including but not limited to; IPC-WHMA-A-620, IPC-JSTD-001, IPC-610, IPC-600 and NASA 8739

* Preference given to candidates with Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Six Sigma certification


* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
