Job Description



SUMMARY
Lug Manufacturing, Aluminum and Copper lugs, splices and related components for power and grounding applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Follows standard work, plans machining by studying work orders, drawings and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
* Operates machining centers, proving part programs by entering and editing programs, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
* Sets-up machining centers by installing and adjusting chucks / collets, tools, attachments, bushings, stops, and stock pushers, tramming turrets and tools as required.
* Sets up bar feeder, loads feed mechanism as required.
* Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work-pieces, performing part inspections.
* Maintains specifications by taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
* Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
* Performs daily maintenance, maintains logs and data sheets, following standard work and manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs when necessary.
* Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
* Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
* Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years work experience in a CNC manufacturing environment, preferred.
Computer skills, specifically MS Word and MS Excel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as ratio, percentages, area, circumference, area and volume; Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as geometry and basic algebra as a minimum (Complete Engineering Technician Math Assessment).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stoop, kneel, crouch, pushing/pulling, handling and feeling. Must independently lift, carry, and wield up to 50 pounds; must lift and move, with mechanical lifts and by rolling, 100 pounds or more. Must be able to work at heights; work around or with moving machinery; operate mobile equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
Electrical hazards, possible fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, odors, moveable mechanical parts, un-air conditioned/heated factory, moderate noise level.
