Job Description





Manufacture production parts as needed and test parts for customer evaluations per engineers' instructions. Duties may include operating a blanking press, high temperature furnace, various grinding and machining equipment. Perform skilled duties to accomplish testing of materials, observations and measurements of test specimens, maintenance of instruments for testing (Instron, Particle size analyzer, etc), troubleshooting, calibrations, prototyping, and general support of the Carbon Composites Team efforts. Machining experience or ability to read CAD drawings a plus.



Specific Duties: Level I


* Operate all associated manufacturing equipment per standard procedures. Set up machine per approved procedure to verify quality parts.




* Document part information and machine settings for our records.




* Conducts various tests or test set-up procedures which require using subjective judgment in measurement and the recording of data.




* Interaction with technical personnel and customers.




* Intermediate ability to interface with other disciplines such as maintenance and facilities personnel and provide feedback with solutions to assist in continuous improvement.




* Verifies data to prepare reports.




* Read, interpret drawings, schematics and specifications.




* Use of computer software associated with test equipment.







Level II


* All the skills of a Lab Technician Level I




* Conducts various tests or test set-up procedures which require using subjective judgment in fabrication, and selection of test equipment.




* Advanced ability to interface with other disciplines such as maintenance and facilities personnel and provide feedback with solutions to assist in continuous improvement, including solutions for improved/optimized test.




* Fabricates simple fixtures and mounts for new applications.




* May assist in planning of small testing projects.



Minimum of a High School Diploma, however, an A.A. or equivalent from a college or technical school with related experience and/or training would be a plus.

Must have knowledge of mechanical components, applications, and equipment. Candidate should have knowledge and experience in handling common lab tools. Knowledge of electrical and control components, applications, and equipment a plus. Technical hobbies such as automotive repair and upgrading a plus. Light machining skills and welding experience a plus.
