SUMMARY

Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for the company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

*
• Will be responsible for selecting and ordering merchandise for production, office, and/or staff requirements, basing selection on engineering and specifications, as well as best price, quality, service and delivery.
*
• Reviews requisitions.Confers with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as specifications, tolerances, price, availability, and delivery schedule.
*
• Recommends or selects products for purchase through evaluation by testing, observing, or examining items to meet specifications.Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
*
• Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
*
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
*
• Review bids and negotiates pricing or contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
*
• Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality and performance, and inventories.
*
• Expedites delivery of goods as required.
*
• Confers with department supervisors, production staff or end user to determine material requirements and to inform supervisors/managers of material status.Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection, quality personnel, engineering, production and suppliers to determine root cause and corrective actions as required.
*
• Manages Supplier Relationships.
*
• Manages Supplier Performance rating reporting.
*
• Other duties as assigned

• Physical Demands:

This position is primarily an office position working in a fast paced business environment that requires frequent hearing and talking.

This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data.

This position may be subject to on the job interruptions that may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus.

While performing duties of this position, employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time and is also required to stand, walk, stoop, reach, and/or bend.

May occasionally lift and/or move up files or boxes up to 20 pounds.

• Must be able to work in an environment that may be subject to occasional loud noises.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

*
• Degree and a minimum five years of equivalent experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*
• Intermediate computer skills to perform job functions:MS Office, Excel, Oracle, MRP/ERP or DRP software.
*
• Ability to negotiate terms, costing, delivery.
*
• Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings.
*
• Minimum of 3 years prior experience in purchasing of Production materials for a manufacturing environment.
*
• Strong interaction at all levels with employees and outside suppliers.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



*
• Exposure to Six Sigma/TQM concept helpful.
*
• APICS/CPIM Supply Chain Certification preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

*
• Must communicate effectively, both written and verbal English, to employees at all levels and with outside suppliers and customers.
*
• Must possess excellent grammar and spelling skills.
*
• Must be able to read, write, analyze, and interpret general business reports, procedures, and/or regulations.
*
• Must be able to analyze purchasing reports.

REASONING ABILITY

• Must be able to understand departmental documentation and be able to process accurately.

• Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Must have ability to multi-task in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a normal office environment with minimal physical risks involved. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Occasionally the job may require that you enter the production area, which you will need to maintain OSHA safety standards.
