Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for identifying and pursuing new market opportunities, providing Carlisle IT interconnect technical guidance and support to existing and new customer base, accompanying Carlisle IT Sales personnel on sales calls and to trade shows, and working with component design engineers to communicate customer/market needs.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Performs existing and new customer visits with the purpose of providing technical guidance and education for Carlisle IT interconnect products.
* Provides samples and literature upon request. Assist customers in determining the optimal Carlisle IT product solution for their exact requirements.
* Provides technical product training to customers and CIT personnel where required.
* Works with customer technical departments to convey/recommend custom interconnect needs. Interprets customer drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards in order to develop interconnect designs when requested by CIT customers. Communicates custom requirements to CIT design engineers and acts as focal between component design and the customer.
* Accompanies Carlisle IT Sales personnel on customer visits upon request, representing CIT and serving as technical sales support for Carlisle IT interconnect products.
* Coordinates customer request for quote requirements with the respective Carlisle IT sales office.
* Serves as interconnect Technical Liaison to all internal Carlisle IT personnel. Provides technical training, education, and support for interconnect products and capabilities.
* Keeps informed of industry and market trends and requirements in order to provide input into new product innovations and anticipated customer demands.
* Assists with Trade Show participation, planning and development of marketing material and product samples. Attends other Carlisle IT Sales Division Trade Shows upon request.
* Communicates design concerns, drawing errors, interpretation issues, and manufacturability enhancements to customer technical contacts as necessary. Must be able to fully understand CIT's production capabilities and data requirements and must be able to communicate professionally with customer personnel.
* Helps develop cost estimates (material and labor) in preparation for sales quotations for custom products.
* Coordinates with CIT Product Engineering personnel to perform complete technical assessment for each project quoted, determining tooling requirements and cost, testing requirements and adapters required, level of manufacturing data required (e.g. Manufacturing instructions, jigs, fixtures) and determines if further clarification and/or documents are required from the customer.
* Provides support to CIT production engineers and process engineers once quotation becomes an order.
* Assesses the cost impact of customer changes in order to develop a cost estimate for sales.

* Provides Customer technical contacts with onsite technical support involving industry standards, specifications, design assistance, CMT production capabilities, and material requirements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
* 5-10 years of experience in a similar position



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

* Able to travel internationally
* Broad engineering abilities and understanding of electrical, mechanical, and mfg/industrial engineering disciplines
* Proficient with SolidWorks and/or ProE
* Wire, cable, and interconnect experience highly beneficial
* Injection molding and extrusion experience beneficial
* Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint



WORK ENVIRONMENT

Home office work environment with visits to customer sites and CarlisleIT manufacturing sites. The manufacturing site work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed in a normal office environment with minimal physical risks involved. The noise level at manufacturing sites is low to moderate.
